I’m excited to share with you guys things I’ve been loving this month! In this post, I’m not going to be sharing with you some beauty products I’ve been loving (pictured above) but also things like music, movies, tv shows, and food. So let’s get started! The first product I want to talk about is my MAC lip liner in Cherry. I actually saw a Youtube guru recommend this and I knew this was the lip liner I needed. I’ve been wanting a good red lip liner for awhile now but haven’t found one that I thought was worth purchasing. This lipliner is so smooth and pigmented. You have to be super careful when applying though, because once it gets on your skin, it’ll be kind of difficult to remove. So if you make a mistake, don’t touch it or scrub at it because it will just smudge the color around. I would recommend using Vaseline or makeup remover on a Q-tip and remove the color that way. It has a great staying power. But! It can feather off at the edge if you smack or rub your lips too much. I find that if you put a line of concealer outside the edge of your lips and also use the tissue trick (blot lips using translucent powder on top of a thin tissue over your lips), the liner and lipstick will stay on all day.
On that note, I also love my CLIO tinted virgin lipstick this month. I got this as a gift from my friend who just came back from Taiwan. CLIO is a Korean brand makeup and unfortunately, I don’t think they sell their products in the U.S., only in Asia. It’s actually quite difficult to find this lipstick available online as well :(. But I just thought I’d share my thoughts on this products with you guys. It’s super pigmented, creamy, and long-lasting. The only down side is that it can be a bit drying on your lips by the end of its wear. Just moisturize well before putting this on and your lips should be fine. Here’s how I look with the lipstick and lipliner:
In the pics above, you can also see I have a pretty black, strong winged liner. I used my Inglot 77 gel liner that I got recently from Macy’s for only $12! I used to use the Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner in Black Ink, but it recently dried out so I got this one. I had heard great things about Inglot’s gel eyeliner and when I finally tried it out in the stores, I realize why. It’s intensely black (so much blacker than Bobbi Brown’s), it’s very smooth, and it doesn’t clump or product fallouts. It is waterproof and doesn’t smudge throughout the day. The price is amazing for the quality :D (much cheaper than Bobbie Brown). I highly recommend this gel liner:
Another product I’ve been loving recently (but I’ve had for awhile now) is my Diorskin Forever Compact Flawless Perfection Fusion Wear in Ivory 010 (phew, that was a mouth-full). I usually use it to touch up when I’m out and about. It provides a really nice cover but at the same time, it doesn’t become cakey on your skin. It gives your skin a really smooth and flawless finish. It was really expensive but I got it at Sephora when they had their sale :).
To take all my makeup off and wash my face clean, I’m currently loving and using the Etude House Every Month Cleansing Foam. I got this when I visited Hong Kong a couple of months ago from the Etude House shop in Causeway Bay. The idea of this collection is to have one cleanser each month that would target skin issues/problems that might arise from that month. So January’s cleanser (1) is avocado and butter, meant to moisturize and keep skin hydrated. July’s cleanser (7) is aloe vera, meant to keep your skin nice and cool. But honestly, you can mix and match months. Also, each cleanser might be more or less appropriate for certain skin types. I got the May (5) Green Tea cleanser. This cleanser is a ‘fresh cream’ type, having more of a firm milky consistency. Other cleansers may be a gel or pearl cream type. I really love how clean my face feels after using this cleanser and the smell is wonderful. However, if you have really dry skin, this cleanser may strip off too much oil, so you might be better off with a gel type cleanser instead. Anyhow, I highly recommend this cleanser :).
Last beauty favorites I wanted to mention is my China Glaze nail polish in “In a Lily Bit”. Isn’t the name just adorable?! I really loved painting my nails this lovely purple lilac color this past month. It’s just so fun and summery without being too bold. The China Glaze formula is very good and smooth. You can almost get away with putting on just one coat. Loves!
Now for some random favorites…
My August favorite TV Shows would have to be So You Think You Can Dance (yee!) and Pretty Little Liars. So You Think You Can Dance only comes out during the summer and I just anticipate it every single year. The dancing is usually very good and it’s amazing how far these contestants have come since day one. It’s so fascinating :D. I also love watching Pretty Little Liars during the summer. I know it’s not a show for everyone and there’s always drama, but it’s actually quite addicting and to be frank, quite scary. It’s my guilty pleasure :P.
My favorite music albums for this month that I’ve been listening to non-stop would have to be Ed Sheeran’s X and Sam Smith’s In the Lonely Hour. They’re both not exactly super newly releases, but I’ve recently been listening to them a lot–mostly to and from work. So good.
And lastly, my favorite snack of the month would have to be Popcorners in Kettle! To be honest, I would’ve never discovered these Popcorners had they not been on the snack shelf at work. I’ve been munching on these ever since I first tasted them. They’re sweet and salty at the same time. So yummyyyy.
That’s all guys! I hope you guys enjoyed this month’s favorites :D. Let me know in the comments below some of your August favorites! Cheers to a happy September! Until next time!
